Earlier, when he was in politics, he worked as Minister of State for the Public Health Department in Punjab Government headed by Chief Minister Beant Singh.

M S Bitta is famous for his patriotic activities and he strongly opposes the Khalistan Movement that wants to divide India and make the Punjab region a separate nation. He did his education from his hometown and developed good interest in politics since a young age due to the influence of his grandfather. Even at a young age, he used to visit the Jallianwala Massacre site and learn about patriots like Subhash Chandra Bose and Bhagat Singh.

Due to the influence of his grandfather, M S Bitta joined politics at a very young age when he was in 8th standard. In 1974, he became a Seva Dal Volunteer and participated in various activities with his parents and family members.
