Mathew Thomas auditioned for the role in Kumbalangi Nights when he was still in school. He was selected to play the role of Franky Napolean which became a huge hit among the audience. Even though it had some violence, the story was very realistic and the making was wonderful. It won several awards across the country and the actors became very famous.
He got a dream debut with the movie and was later selected to play the lead role in Thanneer Mathan Dinangal. This movie was a love story of teenagers and had Answara Ranjan in lead role along with Mathew. To everyone’s surprise, this movie became a blockbuster hit and managed to collect over Rs 50 crores at the box office.
