Sonal Chauhan started her career as a model and became the winner of Miss World Tourism contest in the year 2005. She got good publicity with this title as she was the first person from India to win this title. With this, she got to travel different places and was featured in media allover the country.
She soon made her acting debut with Aap Ka Suroor alongside Himesh Reshamiya. This became a huge hit and she got to play the title role in the movie Jannat. She played the role of Zoya in this movie and her acting was appreciated by critics and audience. In the same year, she made her Telugu debut with a small movie titled Rainbow. This was not a big success but she got some recognition in the south Industry.
