Yuvan Shankar Raja is the last son of Ilaiyaraaja among his siblings Karthick Raja and Bhavatharani. His father and some of his relatives struggled to get into the Tamil film industry. Yet, when Yuvan was born, his father was into national fame as a music director. He did sing for his father’s musical score since the 1990s.

Aravindhan was his debut film in 1997. In 1998, he did Velai and Kalyana Galatta. All these three films were massive flops in theaters.
